I specialize in IP litigation and IP Strategy. I advise clients on trademark, unfair competition, copyright and design issues in a wide variety of industries.
I handle cases in the Swedish courts, the Swedish Patent- and Registration Office and at the European Union Intellectual Property Office and am regularly involved in the co-ordination of proceedings with parallel actions in different jurisdictions.
I have acted in a range of high-profile IP matters, which have included applications for interim injunctions, asset freezing orders and search orders. Key cases are: the first case on sanctions and the EU trademark before the Court of Justice of the European Union; pharma trademarks before the General Court of the European Union; Community designs and the spare part exemption; unconventional trademarks including 3D and colour marks; copyright and product design; and the launch of international un-authorized use programmes and customs protection.
Further I have advised on several governmental proposals within the field of intellectual property rights including implementation of the EC Directive 2004/48/EC on the enforcement of intellectual property rights. I frequently lecture on IP law and have been a lecturer at the faculty of law at both Stockholm University and Uppsala University.
I have been a member of the Swedish Bar Association since 2002 and graduated from Stockholm University (LL.M.) in 1996.
I have been a partner at Westerberg since its foundation in 2019.

“Contentious heavyweights Henrik Wistam /…/ lead the way. Wistam has recently been flexing his muscles representing /…/ on a case concerning unregistered three-dimensional trademarks for the shape of a medical device. President of the Swedish Anti-counterfeiting Group, he is also a prominent actor in the fight against fakes. “He’s simply the best choice around for infringement or anti-counterfeiting matters.”” (WTR 2018)
